“Taking it slow actually helps.”
Life feels like it’s always on fast-forward. Work, errands, back-to-back tasks. But one thing remains constant through it all: our mobile phone.
I’ve been using the iPhone 7 Plus for almost a decade. New models have come and gone, and every launch brings that same anticipation: “This is it, my next new phone.”
But here I am, still holding on.
Why? Because despite the apps getting heavier, the missing iOS updates, and the aging hardware…
“The way I use my phone hasn’t really changed.”
Over the past ten years, it’s been the same daily routine:
- Browsing the internet
- Ordering food online
- Shopping on Shopee
- Banking
- The occasional call
Sure, the apps demand more processing power. But my habits? They’ve stayed the same. And honestly, the iPhone 7 Plus still does its job.
Right now, I’m enjoying something simple: a RM40/month plan from Celcom with 80GB of data. It makes me pause and ask, “Why pay so much more for an expensive plan just to get a shiny new phone?”
Of course, 2025 has been the year reality hit hard:
- Apps crash more often
- The battery had to be replaced
- The infamous audio chip problem makes calls painful (thank you, Bluetooth)
- And the camera… well, it’s hanging on
So yes, here’s what I’m enjoying at the moment:
- A no-contract iPhone 7 Plus that still works (mostly)
- A cheap, reliable mobile plan with more than enough data
- The calm of taking it slow and easy
“New doesn’t always mean necessary.”
But with the launch of the iPhone 17, maybe it’s time to start a new chapter — another long and hopefully beautiful relationship with a device that will last me years.
And how will I get it?
Well… that’s a story for my next update.
